Digging Deeper Day 12

Barrier: Unbelief
Breakthrough: Faith

I apologizefor not giving you a more thorough Digging Deeper today. Especially when dealing with a subject as significant as Faith. But Lori is speaking at a Ladies Day and I have soccer games plus an additional speaking engagement to prepare. The thought of the research involved on this particular subject is overwhelming. If you would like to dig a little deeper yourself then you can go to a website like www.crosswalk.com. Click on the Bible Study Tools menu on the left and put a word search in for Faith or Unbelief. I think you will find more than enough to dig into. This website has Lexicons to find definitions for words in Greek and Hebrew and many other tools.

Today's barrier, however is too significant not to share some thoughts. Unbelief may be the greatest barrier of all for Christians. Notice some of the words from today's reading and meditate on them. Hebrews 11:1- “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see."

Are you sure of what you hope for? What do you hope for? Are you sure that Jesus is the Son of God and that reigns on the right hand of God? Are you sure that He is coming back? Are you certain that God is alive? That God reigns? That God is in control?

If so, does your life look like someone who is certain? Do you plan your day with this certainty? Do you work with this certainty? Do you work on your financial budget with this certainty? Do you give with this certainty? Do you serve with this certainty?

Hebrews 11:6- "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him." "Without faith it is impossible to please God." Do you have faith?

"...must believe He exists." Do you believe He exists? Do you really? If we believe He exists why is it so easy to sin? Why do we treat one another like we do?

Do you believe He rewards those who "earnestly seek Him." Do you earnestly seek Him? Hopefully, this 40 day process is helping you with that.

Ask yourself throughout the day. Am I living like He exists? Look at your Day-Planner and other appointments. How can I live as though He exists today? What would that look like? Would it look differently than what I am currently doing? Do I act as though He really exists when I am alone? That is why the closet is so significant. The closet is where faith is discovered. When no one else is looking. That is where you discover whether you believe or not. Well, do you?

PRAYER: Lord, Help My Unbelief.
